Clearing browsing history, cookies, and cached files in Chrome browser is easy on all operating systems and involves only a few taps / clicks. Here’s how you can do it on an Android phone (or tablet) with the latest Chrome version, as of June 2018. Procedure for recent Chrome versions and other operating systems and devices is very similar if not the same.
On your Android phone, open Chrome web browser and tap on the three vertically aligned dots in the upper-right corner of the screen.
A menu will appear. Tap on the History item.
Then tap on CLEAR BROWSING DATA…
Now you will have multiple options for clearing Chrome browser data with check boxes for each of them. Choose what you want to clear by checking or un-checking it. In this case, I have selected to delete Browsing history, Cookies and site data, and Cached images and files. You can also declare time range you want to clear data for. Default option is Last hour. It’s important to select All time if you want to completely clear selected items.
If you’re clearing browser data only to free up storage space on your Android phone, then your go-to option is to check Cached images and files box. Other options don’t free any meaningful amount of storage space in comparison to cached images and files.
Once you are done with selection of stuff and time range to clear, tap on the CLEAR DATA button in the lower-right corner of the screen.
The last step is to confirm the action by tapping on CLEAR.
